Birthday Party Invitation – No Gifts Etiquette

Over the weekend my 12 year old attended one of her close friend’s outside birthday party. On the invitation there was a detailed list of all the bounce houses and food truck that would be on site to celebrate her friend’s birthday, as well as, in bold “NO GIFTS YOUR PRESENTS IS YOUR PRESENT”. Now if you are like me, you really want to take a present as this is a close friend of hers, and many of her friends did show up with gifts with the birthday girl! Bottom line, don’t!

The correct etiquette is to grant the inviter’s wishes and do no bring a gift, however a card is acceptable! Homemade cards make a nice extra touch as well!
